Mercury amalgam fillings are unsafe and outdated.  At Woolooware dental we have techniques for its safe removal from your mouth and modern alternatives for its replacement

Mercury in any form is poisonous. The occupation presently most likely to be exposed to mercury is dentistry..not only the worker’s but  also their clients. If you have silver coloured amalgam fillings in your teeth you could suffer the long term affects of this potent toxin. Amalgam fillings contain 50% mercury. Mercury can produce many serious adverse health affects including permanent damage to the central nervous system, kidney disease, and reproductive birth defects.

Warnings from the amalgam manufacturer about mercury say that it shoudnt be stored above 25 degrees C yet everyone knows that body temperature is around 37 degrees C . Mercury is easily vaporised from the mouth into the body, especially  when drinking warm beverages and eating hot food.  Mercury fillings also swell because of their metallic nature and you grind off small amounts of the filling when you swallow. The world health organisation says that the greatest dietary source of mercury is not fish it is dental amalgam.

At Woolooware dental we have techniques for its safe removal from your mouth and modern alternatives for its replacement.

Porcelain Veneers

porcelain veneers  are used to cover  teeth, greatly improving their appearance and your smile

Teeth that are discoloured, worn down, chipped or broken misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped can be veneered

Veneers are thin skins of porcelain  fused to the teeth, creating an ideal shape and colour

Porcelain veneers resist stains  and mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth

Whitening

Teeth whitening is the simplest, safest and non-invasive cosmetic procedure to improve your smile. Make a memorable statement to those you meet with a bright white beautiful smile.

At Woolooware Dental we will determine whether your teeth are suitable for whitening before making a thin whitening tray that fits comfortably over your teeth. This is worn with a small amount of tooth whitening gel for 15-minute sessions twice daily until your ideal colour is obtained. While you wear your whitening tray it gently whitens your teeth. Whitening is perfectly safe for teeth and gums because the tooth structure is not changed, just the colour. You can easily re-brighten your smile your whitening trays one or two times every three to six months.

We personally use and recommend  Phillips Zoom Daywhite whitening gel.
